Homemade Brownies

Well, I really had a sweet tooth when I came home today.  And of course, we have nothing in the house except the vanilla wafer cookies that are for lunches.  So I started searching for recipes that would be quick, easy to make, and that I had the ingredients on hand for.  I couldn't seem to find a recipe that used only things I had in the house.  With only 15 minutes to spare before I had to drive my daughter to Judo lessons, I decided to "fudge it!"  I slipped the pan into the oven, set the timer, and ran out the door.  My husband and son were going to take them out when the timer beeped.  Hopefully there will be some left for us when we get back home!  He just sent me this picture.

So here is the recipe I came up with last minute -

Brownies
1 cup butter melted
1 teaspoon of vanilla
4 eggs
2 cups sugar
1 1/4 cups all purpose flour
1/2 cup of cocoa powder1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
 1/2 teaspoon of salt

1.  Melt the butter in the microwave.  Then stir in the vanilla and eggs until well mixed.
2.  Stir the sugar, flour, cocoa, baking soda, cream of tartar, and salt into another bowl until well mixed.
3.  Add the dry mixture to the wet mixture and then stir with a fork until well blended.  There may still be a few lumps.
Pour into a 9"x13" pan and bake at 350 degrees F (325 degrees F for dark coated pan) for about 20 minutes or until the sides begin to pull away from the pan's edge.
